Clear terms for using Med with Spence.
Educational purpose
Med with Spence is an educational revision platform. It supports understanding, retrieval practice, recall and exam preparation. It is not medical advice, a clinical decision-support system or a substitute for supervised training, clinical judgement, local policy or current official guidance.
Learning and exam outcomes
Progress, readiness, workload and recall indicators describe activity recorded within the platform. Self-rated recall is not an objective assessment of mastery. Med with Spence does not guarantee a pass, score improvement, retention gain, clinical competence or any individual educational outcome.
Membership, billing and cancellation
Payment and subscription management are handled by Payhip. Before purchase, review the product, price, billing period, renewal, cancellation and refund information shown at checkout. Where checkout information and an older website statement differ, contact us before purchase. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Accounts and access
Use your own account and, where access is linked to a purchase, the email associated with that purchase. Creating an OS account does not itself purchase membership. Keep sign-in details secure and do not share an account or access credentials. Access can end or change when a subscription expires, is cancelled or refunded, or where misuse or a security issue requires restriction.
Content scope and updates
The released library changes as material is added, corrected, replaced or temporarily withheld. Counts shown in planners or release information are snapshots of the released catalogue, not guarantees that planned material is immediately available. Membership covers the content made available under the relevant product and entitlement during the access period.
Medical knowledge, guidelines and exam frameworks can change. We may update content without preserving an older lesson as the current teaching version. See Content governance for how review and corrections are handled.
Permitted use and intellectual property
Unless a product expressly says otherwise, access is for the learner’s personal educational use. You may make personal study notes and use ordinary screenshots or quotations only where permitted by law and the product interface, but you must not redistribute, resell, publish, scrape, bulk-download, mirror or use protected learning materials to build or train another commercial content system without written permission. Do not remove or bypass access controls, provenance measures or technical restrictions.
International learners and PLAB-related study
International medical students and graduates may use the existing UKMLA library for their own learning, including supplementary PLAB knowledge preparation, under their membership’s normal personal-use terms. “PLAB Visual Learning” describes this entry route; it is not a separate library, entitlement, qualification or complete PLAB preparation programme. Existing UKMLA access is sufficient for the same released content.
Access does not confirm examination eligibility, acceptance of a medical qualification, registration, employment or complete coverage of the GMC MLA content map. PLAB 2 requires practical and professional-skills preparation beyond this library. Check current requirements directly with the GMC. Med with Spence is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the GMC.
Personal study access does not grant rights to redistribute materials to a class, republish them or reuse third-party materials. External guidance remains subject to its owner’s copyright and licence terms. Do not provide confidential examination questions or station content to the platform. Institutional access must be agreed separately.
Spence Hybrid AI and AI-assisted features
Spence AI uses a hybrid architecture rather than relying on a single model or provider. Depending on the feature, study context and service availability, an answer may combine Med with Spence-authored rules and safeguards, the current visual or study context, retrieval from Med with Spence learning content, reusable or deterministic responses, and one or more configured third-party AI model providers. Provider routing and fallback order may change automatically as services, permissions and availability change.
Where a configured model cannot provide a suitable answer, the platform may use another configured provider, a deterministic fallback, or offer a separate hand-off to an external service such as ChatGPT. A hand-off is not the same as an answer generated within Med with Spence, and the external service is governed by its own terms and privacy arrangements.
AI-generated explanations can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or inconsistent even when they use platform context. They are educational support, not a verified clinical source, exam-body guidance, medical advice or a guarantee of any educational outcome. Guideline-sensitive information should be checked against current authoritative sources before clinical application.
Do not submit patient-identifiable information, confidential exam content, passwords, one-time codes or payment-card details to AI features. Questions and limited recent context may be processed by configured providers as described in the Privacy information.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to share confidential exam material, patient information or content you are not entitled to provide; attempt to bypass payment, entitlement or security controls; interfere with the service; automate extraction at scale; impersonate another learner; or use the platform unlawfully. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, content or the service.
Service availability
We aim to provide reliable access, but online services can be interrupted by maintenance, provider outages, security work or events outside our control. We do not promise uninterrupted availability of every feature, AI provider or individual lesson.
Offers and discounts
If a promotion, progression reward or discount is offered, the conditions shown with that offer apply. Eligibility, duration, products covered and whether discounts can be combined may vary. A self-reported result does not verify an exam outcome or create an automatic entitlement unless the stated offer conditions are met.
Teaching groups and institutions
Organisational use, cohort licensing, reporting, support and any integration requirements must be agreed separately. Public demo access does not grant redistribution rights or imply NHS, university, Royal College, regulator or exam-body endorsement.

For billing or access problems, contact medwithspence@gmail.com with the purchase reference where relevant. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or patient records. Content concerns can be reported using the process described on the Content governance page.
